About Gilbert-Franklin Fire Department

The Gilbert Franklin Fire Department is a 100% volunteer department. Formally referred to as Gilbert-Franklin Township Fire & Rescue Agency, these 25-35 members respond to over 200 calls each year and serves families and businesses in the Gilbert area by offering fire protection, emergency medical services, and safety education to the schools and community.

It is our mission to provide the highest quality of service to the citizens of the township and those traveling through it. This is achieved by professional men and women who volunteer their time to provide this service to our residents, business community and visitors.

The Gilbert-Franklin Fire Department covers roughly 30 square miles of district serving the residents of Gilbert and the surrounding areas.

We stand trained and ready to provide fire suppression and rescue services, as well as fire prevention and education, to our community. We currently operate out of one station, located at 105 SE 2nd Street in Gilbert.

Our department operates and maintains seven apparatus used to provide fire and rescue services to the community:

  • 105 Engine
  • 405 Tender
  • 605 Attack Truck
  • 805 Rescue
  • 1005 Support Vehicle
  • Boat 5 Hard Bottom Boat
  • Rescue 5 Inflatable Boat

Our department completes hundreds of hours of training each year, both in fire suppression technique and emergency medical response. This training allows our volunteers to respond to over 200 calls each year, 60-70% of which are medical in nature.

The Gilbert-Franklin Township Fire and Rescue Agency is governed by a board comprised of City of Gilbert council members and Franklin-Township trustees. The board is comprised of six members who volunteer their time to oversee the department’s budget, leadership direction and provision of services.
